Stephen Fry on Language

Thanks to a post on the blog Avoiding Sunlight on a Daily Basis, I found a little video featuring audio by the actor Stephen Fry.

Fry talks about some people’s fanatical adherence to rules of grammar.  He admits to having been a guardian of the language in the past but goes on to recognize that language develops and changes.  Language is for communication and is something that should give us joy, not something that should make us feel superior or scare us to death.

Most of my colleagues would probably not agree with him, but I think he is spot on!  What do you think?
